VIENNA, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Hungarian government believes that western Balkans enlargement must be a priority for the European Union (EU), a senior Hungarian official said during his visit here on Monday.
Speaking to journalists, Zoltan Kovacs, secretary of state for international communication and relations, said that Serbia and Montenegro are ready for immediate accession to the EU, the Austria Press Agency (APA) reported.
Accession talks with North Macedonia should also be started immediately, he said.
Kovacs warned against further delay by the EU in expanding into the Western Balkans, noting that "history has shown that there are always problems when you do not pay attention" to the region.
The unification of Europe is something that is "not yet over," Kovacs said. Enditem
