KIEV, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- The European imports of Ukrainian agricultural food products from August 2018 to July 2019 grew by 1.7 billion euro, or 34 percent over the previous corresponding period, according to a report published by the European Commission on the state of trade in the agricultural sphere for September 2019, UNIAN news agency reported on Tuesday.

According to the country's agricultural sales to the EU countries between August 2018 to July 2019, Ukraine entered the top three largest agricultural products exporters to the European Union, supplying products worth 6.7 billion euro (7.4 billion U.S. dollars) to the Western markets.

The published data showed that the first place in terms of foods exports to EU is taken by the United States, with the second by Brazil which was followed by Ukraine.

Last year it was reported that Ukraine increased its export of agricultural products to the EU by 8.7 percent and it was worth 6.3 billion U.S. dollars. Agricultural exports are an important part of Ukraine's economy as it generates around 40 percent of the national foreign currencies revenues. Enditem
