HONG KONG -- Escalation of violence in Hong Kong has prompted people from various sectors here to call for anti-mask legislation, in a bid to stop the chaos that lasted for over three months.

Maria Tam Wai-chu, deputy director of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Basic Law Committee from Hong Kong, said on Tuesday that people with masks were likely to feel protected and that they could evade legal liability for doing anything. (HK-Anti-mask legislation)

ISLAMABAD -- The death toll from a 5.8-magnitude earthquake jolted parts of Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir on Tuesday rose to 28, and at least 476 others were injured as the rescue work still on, officials and local media said Wednesday morning.

According to a statement from the spokesperson of the Interior Ministry of the Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, 26 people were killed and 456 others injured in Mirpur district of the Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, bordering Pakistan's eastern Punjab province. (Pakistan-Death Toll-Earthquake)

SYDNEY -- Chinese and Australian scientists will continue to break ground in 3D-printed living tissue for use in medical procedures, with plans for a new bilateral research centre announced on Tuesday night.

Focussing on the creation of tissue which can help repair ageing body parts, the Joint Research Centre for the Development of Functional Biomaterials in Advanced Manufacturing of Human Tissues and Organs will be based at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in the Australian city of Brisbane. BANGKOK -- Thailand admires China's achievements in the past 70 years and stands ready to work with China to develop the Belt and Road Initiative for the prosperity of Thailand and the region, said Anutin Charnvirakul, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health in an interview with Chinese media.
