LUSAKA, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Thursday.

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has said industrialization of Africa is critical if the continent is to achieve accelerated economic development.

Lungu said developed partners need to come on board and assist African countries with resources to meet their developmental needs. (Times of Zambia)

-- The Zambian government has signed a 250 million U.S. dollars memorandum of understanding with a South Korean firm, Eco Solutions, to support activities in youth resource centers over a period of five years.

The agreement will focus on promoting agricultural activities with particular emphasis on soya beans growing for biofuel production. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- The Zambian government is working on a strategy which will regulate the extraction of gold and how the country will earn meaningful revenue from the operations.

Barnaby Mulenga, Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development Permanent Secretary, said the strategy, to be launched in two weeks' time, was aimed at ensuring the mineral was extracted in an orderly manner that would benefit the country. (Daily Nation)
