ANKARA, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has urged caution over blaming Iran for the attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities, the official Anadolu Agency reported Thursday.

"Well, I don't think it would be the right thing to blame Iran," Erdogan said in an interview with the U.S. network Fox News.

"If we just place the entire burden on Iran, it won't be the right way to go. Because the evidence available does not necessarily point to that fact," he said, referring to the drone attacks on two Aramco oil facilities in Saudi Arabia on Sept. 14.

The Turkish president said that the attacks came from several parts of Yemen.

The United States, Saudi Arabia and some European countries have accused Iran of conducting the attacks, although the Yemeni Houthi group claimed responsibility for them.

Iran has denied the charges as "meaningless and incomprehensible within the diplomatic norms."

Erdogan also said that he is against imposing sanctions against Iran. "We are neighbors with Iran, and I know that sanctions never solved anything," he said.

The Turkish president also refuted the allegations by the U.S. media which claimed that Turkey has been helping Iran, Venezuela and Syria evade U.S. sanctions through Turkish banks and companies.

"These are allegations voiced by a terrorist organization known as FETO," said Erdogan, referring to the Fetullahist Terror Organization, which is accused by the Turkish government of being behind a failed coup attempt in July, 2016. Enditem
