The vote was 75 to 22.
Hyten, who currently serves as chief of the U.S. Strategic Command, has been accused of sexual misconduct by an Army colonel.
The Air Force investigated the allegations and found that they could not be substantiated.

He would serve as deputy for Mark Milley, who was confirmed by the Senate for the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in July.
