GENEVA -- The UN Human Rights Council on Thursday adopted a resolution submitted by China and other countries at its ongoing 42nd session to mark the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

The resolution stresses the importance of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, adopted by the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995, and decides to convene, during the high-level segment at the UN rights body's next session, a high-level panel discussion to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women. WASHINGTON -- The United States will deploy about 200 support personnel and missile defense equipment to Saudi Arabia following the attacks on Saudi oil facilities, said U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper on Thursday.

Esper announced in a statement released by the Pentagon that America will send one Patriot missile system battery, four Sentinel radars and approximately 200 support personnel to Saudi Arabia. (US-Saudi Arabia-Military deployment)

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Senate voted on Thursday to confirm General John Hyten to be vice chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The vote was 75 to 22.

ATHENS -- A ship collision occurred on Thursday at the pier of Neo Iconio of the Greek port of Perama, 8 km northwest of Piraeus.

According to Hellenic Coast Guard, a Japanese cargo ship carrying containers, with 23 crew members, crashed into the right side of an anchored Turkish-flagged tanker, with 13 crew aboard, while entering the harbor. (Greece-Shipping-Accident) Enditem
