BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.92 percent, at 2,905.19 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.08 percent lower at 9,446.24 points.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Monday with an increase of 0.54 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 3.90 points, reaching 724.91 points after closing.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Monday moved down 6.54 points, or 0.40 percent to close at 1,637.22 points.

Some 15.02 billion shares worth 43.66 billion baht (about 1.43 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed lower Monday.

Among sectors, except IT all other indices are trading lower led by the bank, pharma, metal, infra, energy and FMCG.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.18 percent, or 5.64 points, to close at 3,119.99.

The STI index went down 0.01 percent, or 0.18 points, to close at 3,125.63 last Friday.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,583.91 down 0.23 points or 0.01 percent, and the Emas was at 11,203.71 down 2.18 points or 0.02 percent.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 105.05 points on Monday, up 0.28 points or 0.27 percent, from the previous trading session.

Prices of 76 stocks went up, 63 stocks dropped, while 228 stocks remained unchanged.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 137.46 points, or 0.53 percent, to 26,092.27 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 25,786.29 and 26,161.7. Turnover totaled 73.30 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 9.35 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower on Monday due to profit-taking following concerns for the market.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average decreased 123.06 points, or 0.56 percent, from Friday at 21,755.84, reaching its lowest close since Sept. 12.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.51 percent lower on Monday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 40.15 points to 7,779.07. The all-share index went down by 15.94 points, or 0.34 percent, to 4,712.87.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 13.12 points, or 0.64 percent, to settle at 2,063.05. Trading volume stood at 318.6 million shares worth 3.6 trillion won (3 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market finished lower on Monday, with financial sector losses weighing heavy on the index.

At the close of trade, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was down 27.80 points or 0.41 percent at 6,688.30, while the broader All Ordinaries index fell 23.50 points or 0.34 percent at 6,800.60. Enditem
