SAN FRANCISCO -- A Chinese anthology movie featuring seven defining moments in the history of the People's Republic of China (PRC) to mark the 70th anniversary of the PRC's founding debuted in the San Francisco Bay Area on Monday night.

Hundreds of overseas Chinese, mostly young students from colleges and universities in the Bay Area, densely packed a movie theater in Daly City, south of San Francisco, to wait for the exciting debut moment of "My People, My Country" that was shot to celebrate the PRC's birthday, which falls on Oct. 1. PYONGYANG -- Pyongyang and Washington have agreed to have preliminary contact on Oct. 4 and hold working-level negotiations on Oct. 5, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

NEW YORK -- New York City's landmark Empire State Building was lit with a light show on Monday night in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

When dusk fell, the top two levels of the building started to shine in the Chinese national flag's red and yellow respectively, with the 204-feet (62-meter) tall antenna lit in red. (US-Empire State Building-Light Show)

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong was hit by a fresh bout of violence on Tuesday when black-clad rioters damaged properties, attacked police, set fires and paralyzed traffic.

The unrest started with unauthorized assemblies in areas including Wan Chai, Sham Shui Po, Tuen Mun, Sha Tin, Tsuen Wan and Wong Tai Sin.

Some rioters hurled multiple petrol bombs at police officers, along with other objects. A number of Molotov cocktails were mistakenly landed on other protesters' umbrellas. (Hong Kong-Riot) Enditem
