Bangladesh earns 532 mln USD from service exports in July

DHAKA, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's total services export income in the first month of the current fiscal year 2019-20 (July 2019-June 2020) rose by 3.62 percent year-on-year to 532 million U.S. dollars, an official said on Thursday.

The official from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) told Xinhua that Bangladesh earned a total of 532.67 million U.S. dollars from exports in July, compared to 514.05 million U.S. dollars in the same period a year earlier.

According to the official, the country exported transportation services worth of 48.75 million U.S. dollars in July against the exports of services worth of 55.56 million U.S. dollars in the same period a year earlier.

Among other major sectors of services export, he said telecommunication and information services had also performed poorly in the first month when the sector witnessed 12.56 percent drop year-on-year to 45.12 million U.S. dollars.

Bangladesh set its services export target in 2019-2020 fiscal year at 8.50 billion U.S. dollars. The country's total services export income in the last 2018-19 (July 2018-June 2019) fiscal year surged 46.06 percent year-on-year to 6.34 billion U.S. dollars. Enditem
