CAPE TOWN, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in South African major media outlets on Friday.

--President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday announced plans to create stronger economic and social ties between South Africa and Nigeria following a spate of violence against foreign nationals in South Africa in September.

Ramaphosa hosted Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on a state visit to boost ties between Africa's two largest economies. (Fin24)

--Sixty percent of South Africans do not report theft of personal property, street robbery or common assault, Statistics South Africa said on Thursday.
