ADDIS ABABA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- An Ethiopian expert on Friday hailed China's economic achievements over the past seven decades.

Speaking exclusively to Xinhua, Costantinos Bt. Costantinos, who served as an economic advisor to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, said China has shown remarkable strides in economic and social fields in the last 70 years, which could serve as a good lesson for Ethiopia and other countries.

China was transformed from an agricultural economy to an industrial one in just four decades, said Costantinos.

"China has achieved this miraculous growth in what took the West to achieve in a couple of centuries, said Costantinos, reiterating that Ethiopia could learn a lot from China's miraculous growth which has also lifted more than 800 million people out of absolute poverty in about four decades.

Ethiopia has already embarked on a similar poverty reduction strategy, aiming at making the east African country a middle-income industrialized economy by 2025. Enditem
