LONDON, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 1.10 percent, or 77.74 points, to close at 7,155.38 points.
Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust, a publicly traded investment trust, soared 4.03 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Smurfit Kappa Group and Melrose Industries increased by 3.18 percent and 3.10 percent, respectively.
NMC Health, a private healthcare services provider, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 1.46 percent. Imperial Brands, a British multinational tobacco company, dropped 1.05 percent. Taylor Wimpey, a UK-based residential developer, fell 0.70 percent. Enditem
