TOKYO, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened slightly higher on Monday as investor sentiment was buoyed by solid U.S. jobs data for September released late last week although early gains were capped by ongoing concerns over trade issues.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 21.54 points, or 0.10 percent, from Friday to 21,431.74.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 3.22 points, or 0.20 percent, at 1,576.12.
Marine transportation, insurance and retail-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
