MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed lower Monday following mixed trade in the sectoral front.

The benchmark S&P, BSE Sensex closed at 37,531.98, 141.33 points or 0.38 percent down compared to its previous close at 37,673.31.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's DSE (Dhaka Stock Exchange) Broad Index closed Monday at 4894.31 points, down 22.37 points from Sunday's finish.

Among a total of 354 issues traded, 74 registered gains and 251 incurred losses while 29 remained unchanged.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 60.66 points, or 1 percent, to a level of 6,000.58 on Monday.

Some 441,272 transactions were booked, involving 17.1 billion copies of shares with a value of 7 trillion rupiah (about 494.2 million U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,559.00 up 1.33 points or 0.09 percent, and the Emas was at 11,058.55 up 10.03 points or 0.09 percent.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.69 percent, or 21.12 points, to close at 3,099.48.

A total of 582.11 million shares changed hands with a turnover of 705.51 million Singapore dollars (about 510.57 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 202 to 133.

HANOI -- The stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 103.73 points on Monday, down 1.44 points or 1.36 percent from the previous trading session.

Over 27.2 million shares worth 444.4 billion Vietnamese dong (19.3 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Monday. Specifically, foreign investors bought 909,670 shares valued at more than 12.7 billion Vietnamese dong (553,087 U.S. dollars), and sold 903,128 shares valued at 12.5 billion Vietnamese dong (545,130 U.S. dollars).

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished higher on Monday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index up 28.5 points, or 3.72 percent, to close at 794.14.

A total of 10,213 shares worth 100.6 million riel (24,645 U.S. dollars) were traded, the CSX said.

VIENTIANE -- The lao stock market closed on Monday with a decrease of 0.31 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 2.25 points, reaching 731.23 points after closing.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.28 percent lower on Monday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 21.38 points to 7,683.22. The all-share index went down by 9.43 points, or 0.20 percent, to 4,666.17.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed slightly lower Monday, giving up earlier gains on the back of solid U.S. jobs data, as trade concerns clouded the outlook for the global economy and sent the yen higher versus the U.S. dollar, which hurt exporters.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 34.95 points, or 0.16 percent, from Friday to close the day at 21,375.25.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended almost unchanged on Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched up 1.04 points, or 0.05 percent, to settle at 2,021.73. Trading volume stood at 317 million shares worth 3.3 trillion won (2.8 billion U.S. dollars). Enditem
