LONDON, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.76 percent, or 54.73 points, to close at 7,143.15 points.

London stock exchange group, a London-based stock exchange and financial information company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.80 percent. Whitbread, a British multinational hotel and restaurant company, dropped 3.90 percent. Flutter Entertainment, a sports betting and gaming company, fell 3.50 percent.

Polymetal International, a precious metal mining company, soared 2.75 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Fresnillo and Coca-Cola HBC AG increased by 2.07 percent and 1.06 percent, respectively. Enditem
