TIRANA, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- In the first half of 2019, foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows in Albania increased by 13 percent compared to the same period last year, Finance and Economy Minister Anila Denaj said on Wednesday during the plenary session of the country's parliament.
"Last year in Albania, FDI totaled a record 1 billion euros (1.09 billion U.S. dollars) and this year we expect FDI to remain at the same level based on the indicators we had in the first half of 2019," Denaj said.
"The fiscal package that is being implemented in the country is making its effects felt especially in the tourism sector," Denaj said.
According to Denaj, the government is continuing its efforts to diversify the sectors that absorb foreign investment.
"These are processes that do not occur in a year and we are very confident that all these processes will materialize into a better FDI structure in the coming years," Denaj said. Enditem
