French shares gain 0.78 pct on Wednesday

PARIS, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Wednesday with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.78 percent, or 42.52 points, to close at 5,499.14 points.
A total of 32 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.
French-based international ophthalmic optics company EssilorLuxottica advanced 2.92 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French international energy management specialist Schneider Electric rose 2.69 percent and International telecommunication company Bouygues gained 2.33 percent.
French defense and tech giant Thales lost 1.03 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French multinational electric utility company Engie S.A. lost 0.82 percent and French multinational pharmaceutical company Sanofi edged down 0.35 percent. Enditem
