TOKYO -- Chinese naval destroyer Taiyuan arrived in Sagami Bay, southwest of Tokyo in Japan on Thursday to join an international fleet review scheduled for Oct. 14.

It is the first time for the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy to participate in a naval review hosted by Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (MSDF), and the first time for a Chinese naval ship to visit Japan in 10 years. (Japan-China-Navy)

MALE -- The Maldives Foreign Ministry has handed over a plot of land to construct a new Chinese chancery building in the Maldives, local media reports said here Thursday.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian Chief Security Minister Wiranto was wounded after he was attacked by assailants with a knife on Thursday in Banten province, national police spokesman Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo said.

A man and a woman carried out the attack at 11:55 a.m. Jakarta time, when the minister was about to shake hands with residents in Alun-Alun park of Pandeglang district of the province, the spokesman said. (Indonesia-Minister-Attack)

MANILA -- The three-day Philippines Apparel Textile Show and Sport Show kicked off here on Thursday, showcasing some 100 Chinese apparel brands and the latest trends and achievements of China in the textile industry.

During the expo, the China Textiles and Garment Brand Show (Philippines) was held for the first time in Manila's SMX Convention Center. Exhibitors from China's Fujian, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces showcased different kinds of apparels and garments including bags, sports-wears, foot-wears, swimsuits, outdoor equipment, and fitness equipment, among others.
