RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro denied on Wednesday that he intends to leave his party, the Social Liberal Party (PSL), and described his recent disagreements with the party's leadership as "a couple's spats."

"I will continue in the party for now. There is no crisis. A couple's spat, it happens sometimes. It is not my problem. People want a different, active party. The party is stagnated," he said.

PARIS -- French Defense Minister Florence Parly on Wednesday urged Turkey to stop its military operation against the Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria.

"The Turkish offensive in northeastern Syria is dangerous. Dangerous for the security of the Kurds. Dangerous because it benefits Daesh (IS, Islamic State group) against whom we have been fighting for 5 years," Parly tweeted.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday said Turkey has a legitimate security concern to launch the military offensive against the Kurdish forces in northern Syria.

"The Turks had a legitimate security concern ... they have a terrorist threat to their south," Pompeo said in an interview with PBS NewsHour when he was asked if Syrian Kurdish fighters are U.S. allies.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for an end to the Democratic-led impeachment inquiry, one day after the White House announced an uncooperative stance and House Democrats accused it of obstruction.

In a series of morning tweets, Trump said "for the good of the country," the Democrats' effort to remove him from office "should end now!"

Trump also said the whistleblower who filed a complaint in August alleging that the president communicated inappropriately with the Ukrainian president "should be exposed and questioned properly." Enditem
