Lithuania, Germany discuss defense cooperation

VILNIUS, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- German defense minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer paid a visit to Lithuania on Thursday to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional security.

Kramp-Karrenbauer's meeting with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda focused on bilateral cooperation and key regional security issues, according to the president's office.

"Our two countries are allies and partners: we address common emerging challenges together to ensure security and welfare to all the people in Europe," Nauseda said during the meeting, emphasizing that Germany is also one of Lithuania's key economic and trade partners.

According to the president's office, Lithuania recently concluded agreements with Germany for acquisition of military equipment.

The German defense minister also met her Lithuanian counterpart Raimundas Karoblis before visiting German troops deployed in central Lithuania. Enditem
