LONDON, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Thirteen men arrested in Britain's biggest ever drugs rackets appeared in court Thursday.
The men, suspected members of an international organized crime group, were arrested in a series of raids by police Tuesday as part of a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation into the importation of cocaine, heroin and cannabis worth billions of U.S. dollars.
They have all been charged with importing powerful class A and B drugs in what the NCA said was Britain's biggest ever drugs racket.
The men appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court Thursday and will next appear before a judge at Manchester Crown Court on Nov. 7.
Seven of the men are being held in custody and the other six have been bailed to return to court on Nov. 7.
The number of arrests rose to 15 Thursday night when the NCA said two more men have been arrested.
The men, both from North West England, handed themselves in at a Greater Manchester police station Thursday afternoon and are being questioned in connection with conspiracies to import drugs. Enditem
