BEIJING -- Major Chinese stock indices ended higher Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.15 percent to end at 3,007.88 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.24 percent higher at 9,786.64 points.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 213.41 points, or 0.81 percent, to 26,521.85 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 26,386.41 and 26,636.93. Turnover totaled 90.35 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 11.52 billion U.S. dollars).

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.34 percent, or 10.48 points, to close at 3,124.45.

A total of 1.12 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 842.05 million Singapore dollars (about 615.08 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 198 to 196.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.44 percent higher on Monday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 34.35 points to 7884.29. The all-share index went up by 17.60 points, or 0.37 percent, to 4,759.09.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed flat on a positive note on Monday.

Except IT and PSU bank, all other sectoral indices ended higher led by the pharma, auto, FMCG, infra and energy.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,567.59, up 10.75 points or 0.69 percent, and the Emas was at 11,151.01, up 73.20 points or 0.66 percent.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 993.57 points on Monday, up 1.73 points, or 0.17 percent against the previous trading day.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand stock market's indicator, the S&P/NZX 50 index, jumped by 0.94 percent to 11,027 on Monday.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 22.79 points, or 1.11 percent, to settle at 2,067.40. Trading volume stood at 502 million shares worth 4.5 trillion won (3.8 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market closed sharply higher on Monday.

At the close of trade, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 35.80 points or 0.54 percent at 6,642.60, while the broader All Ordinaries index rose 36.00 points or 0.54 percent at 6,757.90.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodian stocks finished higher on Monday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index up 7.07 points, or 0.83 percent, to close at 860.24.
