Iran says U.S. obstructs Tehran-Riyadh proximity

TEHRAN, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Tuesday that the United States obstructs a thaw of relations between Tehran and Riyadh, Tasnim news agency reported.
"Washington is the main cause of chaos in the Middle East and hinders settlement of Tehran-Riyadh tensions," Larijani said in a meeting with his Austrian counterpart on the sidelines of the 141st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Serbia on Tuesday.
Iran is not opposed to the resolution of conflicts with Saudi Arabia, he said, but the United States benefits from the existence of tensions between the two Muslim states.
Iran has said that it welcomes mediatory efforts seeking to help both Middle Eastern countries overcome their disputes.
In the meantime, Iran has urged the Saudi-led coalition to stop attacks on the Houthi-controlled regions in Yemen and end the siege of the country. Enditem
