SINGAPORE, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.59 percent, or 18.54 points, to close at 3,134.71.
A total of 1.33 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.19 billion Singapore dollars (about 866.78 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 223 to 174.
The STI index went down 0.27 percent, or 8.28 points, to close at 3,116.17 on Tuesday. Enditem
