New European Commission delayed for at least one month

BRUSSELS, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- European Parliament President David Sassoli and leading MEPs agreed on Wednesday to cancel the assembly's confirmation vote on the new European Commission slated for next week, making the the commission unlikely to take office before Dec. 1, media reported here.

European Parliament has recently rejected three commissioners-designate from Romania, Hungary and France.

Once the three commissioners-designate are renamed and pass their individual confirmation hearings, the parliament plans to start the confirmation vote in the week of Nov. 25 to enable the commission to take office on Dec. 1, according to website of POLITICO's Europe edition.

The new European Commission was initially scheduled to take office on Nov. 1. Enditem
