WASHINGTON -- The U.S. House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly on Wednesday to pass a resolution rebuking President Donald Trump's decision to pull U.S. troops out of northern Syria amid ongoing Turkish offensive.

The vote was 354 to 60 for the resolution, wining bipartisan support. The resolution "opposes the decision to end certain United States efforts to prevent Turkish military operations against Syrian Kurdish forces in Northeast Syria." (US-Turkey-Resolution)

BRUSSELS -- European Parliament President David Sassoli and leading MEPs agreed on Wednesday to cancel the assembly's confirmation vote on the new European Commission slated for next week, making the commission unlikely to take office before Dec. 1, media reported here.

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian army on Wednesday entered the symbolically important Kurdish-held town of Ayn al-Arab in northern Syria near Turkey, state news agency SANA reported.

The army units entered Ayn al-Arab, also known as Kobane, in the remote northeastern countryside of Aleppo province in northern Syria "amid the welcome of the residents there," said SANA. (Syria-Army-Kurdish Town)

LAGOS -- A tanker laden with petrol fell and spilled its content on a busy road in Nigeria's southeastern city of Onitsha on Wednesday, causing a huge fire that burnt down at least six buildings.
