LAS VEGAS, the United States, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Some 80 Chinese top-tier pharmaceutical companies showcased their latest offerings in health, nutrition and supplements on Thursday here at an annual global exhibition.

The Chinese suppliers set up in the China Pharmaceutical Ingredients Brand Pavilion opened at the SupplySide West 2019, a trade event which is expected to gather up to 17,000 ingredient suppliers and buyers and 1,300 exhibitors from around the world.

"We want to promote Chinese products to serious dealmakers in the health and nutritional market, which is growing very fast in recent years," said Chris Cai, deputy secretary general of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products.

Cai said that after the Chinese companies invested more in research and development, "high quality" has become a new label of China's producers in the industry, in addition to strong manufacturing capability.

"The Chinese have been making herbal remedies throughout our entire history, well before the modern health industry began," Cai said. "It is a Chinese specialty in this industry. And we are still supplying many of the world's vitamins and health supplements today."

"Chinese suppliers represent the largest number of exhibitors at the show outside of the U.S. group," said Danica Cullins, brand director and vice president of sales for events company Informa's SupplySide portfolio. "They bring a great deal of business and value to the show."

The United States is currently the world's biggest health and nutrition market, which generated 250 billion U.S. dollars last year.

The SupplySide West trade show provides buyers and sellers with some 10,000 natural and man-made ingredients and solutions from global suppliers for food, supplements, vitamins, skin care lotions and more. Enditem
