WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday he nominated Dan Brouillette, deputy secretary of energy, to be the new head of the department.

"I am pleased to nominate Deputy Secretary Dan Brouillette to be the new Secretary of Energy," the president said on social media, adding that current Energy Secretary Rick Perry will leave at the end of the year. (US-Impeachment inquiry)

MANAMA -- Bahraini Foreign Ministry on Friday called on its citizens to leave Lebanon immediately in light of the current developments as protests enter a second day.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said Friday that Boeing covered up messages made by its two employees in 2016 about the problematic flight-control system implicated in two deadly crashes of 737 Max planes.

It came after Boeing alerted the U.S. Department of Transportation on Thursday about the existence of those instant messages, several months after the company discovered the communications. (US-FAA-Boeing)

KHARTOUM -- Sudan's government and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM)/Northern sector led by Abdel-Aziz Al-Hilu signed a road-map for negotiations on Friday, official SUNA news agency reported.

Shams-Eddin Kabashi, member of Sudan's sovereign council, signed the road-map on behalf of the government with Secretary-General of the SPLM/Northern sector Amar Amoun Daldoum, the report said. (Sudan-Road-Map) Enditem
