RABAT, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan police arrested on Sunday a Brazilian for possession of 600 grams of cocaine at Marrakech airport.

The ultrasound control operation showed several capsules of cocaine in his stomach, according to a statement by the Moroccan police.

The Brazilian, aged 22, had landed in Marrakech from Lisbon, Portugal.

He was transferred to hospital in Marrakech to extract the swallowed capsules prior to investigation, the statement said.

Moroccan authorities said the country witnessed in recent years an increase in cocaine seizures, including 541 kg of cocaine in a container from Latin America, which arrived in Casablanca in February 2018. Enditem
