WUHAN, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- China, featuring Olympic champion Zhang Nan in the men's doubles, beat the DPR Korea 5-0 in their first badminton men's team match at the 7th Military World Games here on Monday.

The five participating countries China, DPR Korea, South Korea, Thailand and France will play round robin for the men's team title.

China, who receives a bye in the first round, had a dominating victory over their opponent in the second round without losing a single set.

Lu Guangzu, who turns 23 this month, took the first point for the host 21-8, 21-9 against Choe Mu Gwang before Zhang Nan and Tan Qiang extended the lead to 2-0 with a 21-7, 21-10 victory.

"I just came back from Denmark Open and still feel about the jet-lag, but I am in a good form tonight," said two-time Olympic champion Zhang, who vows to try his best at the Military World Games.

"As a serviceman, I have the responsibility to fight in the games," he said.

Zhao Junpeng, who debuted at the Military World Games, sealed the victory for China after a 21-8, 21-8 straight set win.

"It's the first time for me to compete against an opponent from the DPR Korea, and I feel happy that I could get the winning point in our first match," Zhao noted.

Later in the match, Liu Cheng/Ju Fangpengyu beat Choe Mu Gwang/Hwang Jin 21-12, 21-10, while Li Shifeng dismissed Ri Sung Gwon 21-3, 21-6.

The other match of the second round saw a close duel as Thailand edged out South Korea 3-2. In the first round earlier on Monday, South Korea beat the DPR Korea 5-0, while Thailand thrashed France 5-0. Enditem
