JAKARTA -- Strong winds struck west Indonesia's East Java province over the weekend, leaving one dead, three injured and about 1,000 residents displaced, a senior official from the local disaster agency said Monday.

The natural disaster took place in Batu town of the province, said Mat Khairurrohim, head of emergency unit of the disaster management agency in the town. (Indonesia-Strong winds)

ISLAMABAD -- A blast hit a police vehicle in Pakistan's southwestern Quetta city on Monday evening, leaving at least five people injured, including four policemen, said local police.

Rescue teams, police and security forces had reached the site and shifted the injured to hospital. No group has claimed the attack yet. (Pakistan-Blast)

TALUQAN, Afghanistan -- Seven civilians were injured after an explosive device went off in a hotel in Eshkamish district of northern Afghanistan's Takhar province on Monday, provincial government spokesman Mohammad Jawad Hajari said.

The device was planted under a table and exploded at noon when over two dozen people were having lunch, said the official, adding that several injured persons are in critical conditions. (Afghanistan-Blast)
