KHARTOUM, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Sudanese capital Khartoum and other cities on Monday witnessed demonstrations demanding to achieve goals of the Sudanese revolution.
In Khartoum, thousands of people took to the streets, demanding to dissolve the former ruling National Congress Party, try the figures of the former regime and those involved in dispersing protesters' sit-in in front of the army's general headquarters.
The demonstrations coincided with the 55th anniversary of the first popular uprising against military rule in Sudan.
Atbara, El Obeid, Wad Madani, Port-Sudan and other Sudanese cities witnessed similar demonstrations.
Since early Monday, the Sudanese army closed major roads leading to the army's general headquarters, which has caused heavy traffic jams in central Khartoum. Enditem
