JAKARTA -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved 100 million U.S. dollars of loan for Indonesian government to catalyze private sector's investments in infrastructure projects, ADB Country Director for Indonesia Winfried Wicklein said on Tuesday.

The loan was highly expected to help private investors to develop and finance projects of the much-needed infrastructure in Indonesia, he said. (Indonesia-ADB)

HONG KONG -- China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government on Tuesday announced a new round of measures costing about 2 billion HK dollars (about 255 million U.S. dollars) to assist sectors hard-hit by the economic downturn, including retail, catering, transport and tourism.

Paul Chan, financial secretary of the HKSAR government, said in a media briefing on Tuesday that the government will provide fuel subsidy for the transport trade for six months or a one-off fuel subsidy, which will cost about 1,365 million HK dollars (174 million U.S. dollars) and benefit around 61,000 taxi drivers or drivers of minibuses on non-scheduled services, 180 public transport operators, and owners of 130,000 commercial vehicles and vessels. MANILA -- Russia intended to set up a gun-manufacturing company in the Philippines, Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Igor Khovaev said here on Tuesday.

Already, Khovaev said Moscow and Manila were exploring specific opportunities for "a joint production of sophisticated arms and small weapons" in the Philippines. "We already started working on that," he told reporters during a press briefing. (Russia-Philippines)

HONG KONG -- The Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) reiterated Tuesday that Hong Kong has no jurisdiction over the homicide case that happened in Taiwan involving two Hong Kong citizens, and there is not enough evidence here to prosecute the suspect except for money laundering offenses.

Chan Tong-kai, a Hong Kong citizen accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend in Taiwan last year, will be released Wednesday after serving prison term in Hong Kong for money laundering. (Hong Kong-Justice) Enditem
