TEHRAN, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Baqeri on Tuesday warned Iran's "enemies" against any act of aggression against the country.

"If the enemies launch an act of aggression against the borders of the Islamic republic, they will face heavy casualties and humiliation," Baqeri was quoted as saying by Press TV.

"The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have a heavy duty to establish sustainable security and to create and promote effective deterrence in the face of all the animosity, plots, sanctions, pressure and threats against the country," Baqeri said.

Thanks to Iran's deterrent power and military might, the Islamic republic will prevent enemies from invading the country, he added. Enditem
