KATHMANDU -- In a bid to enhance connectivity between the two neighbors, a Nepal-China joint venture company Himalaya Airlines started the operation of direct flights from Kathmandu to the Chinese capital city Beijing from Sunday.

Organizing a special function at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the company launched its maiden flight amid the presence of Nepali Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi among others. (Nepal-China-Flights)

MAIMANA, Afghanistan -- Five Afghan children were dead after a Taliban's improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in the country's northern Faryab province on Sunday, a local source said.

"The blast occurred after one of the victims step on a pressure-plate IED in a village of Pashtun Kot district in the morning," Hanif Rezai, spokesman of army Corps 209 Shaheen based in the region, told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Explosion)
