CAIRO, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chairman of Libya's state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mustafa Sanalla said Sunday that his country seeks cooperation with Egyptian oil companies to rehabilitate the infrastructure of the Libyan oil sector.

Sanalla's remarks came during his meeting with Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Tarek al-Molla in Cairo.

The Libyan official underlined his country's desire to benefit from "the distinguished Egyptian expertise" in designing projects as well as implementing civil works and maintenance of oil facilities, Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum said in a statement.

Al-Mulla stressed Egypt's support for Libya's efforts to restore the capabilities of its oil industry "within the framework of permanent cooperation between the two countries."

He expressed the readiness of the Egyptian petroleum sector to contribute effectively in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of oil and gas infrastructure in Libya.

The oil sector, the country's main source of income, has suffered tremendously due to armed attacks on its oil fields and ports.

Libya has been mired in violence and political instability ever since the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi's government in 2011. Enditem
