BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.85 percent, at 2,980.05 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.46 percent higher at 9,801.87 points.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Monday moved up 3.20 points, or 0.20 percent, to close at 1,596.48 points.

Some 20.18 billion shares worth 49.89 billion baht (about 1.66 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Monday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index down 28.44 points, or 3.5 percent, to close at 784.72.

A total of 30,578 shares worth 302.08 million riel (74,626 U.S. dollars) were traded, the CSX said, adding that the price of four out of the five trading stocks went down.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 223.87 points, or 0.84 percent, to 26,891.26 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 26,762.7 and 27,005.68. Turnover totaled 80.99 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 10.33 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.30 percent higher on Monday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 24.03 points to 7,946.53. The all-share index went up by 7.22 points, or 0.15 percent, to 4,774.25.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 5.71 points, or 0.27 percent, to settle at 2,093.60. Trading volume stood at 264.5 million shares worth 3.7 trillion won (3.2 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market finished marginally higher on Monday despite a strong start, with the index easing throughout the day as resources lost momentum and tech and financials sank.

At the market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 1.50 points or 0.022 percent at 6,740.70, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 1.50 points or 0.022 percent at 6,842.50.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Monday, with the benchmark Nikkei stock index extending its winning streak to a sixth straight session.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 67.46 points, or 0.30 percent, from Friday to close the day at 22,867.27. Enditem
