TUNIS, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian President Kais Saied on Tuesday vowed to help find a political settlement of the Libyan crisis.

Saied made the remarks during a meeting with Khalid Al-Mishri, head of Libya High Council of State, the Tunisian presidency said in a statement.

The Tunisian president affirmed that Tunisia was working to find a political settlement that will serve the interests of the Libyan people through restoring security and stability in the war-torn country.

"The solution had to be based on the Libyans' own will, away from any foreign pressure," the presidency statement quoted Saied as saying.

Saied also underlined the determination of his country to contribute to the search for effective solutions to the Libyan crisis.

Al-Mishri offered warm congratulations to the Tunisian president for his success in the recent presidential race, wishing Saied all the success in fulfilling the aspirations of Tunisians and leading the country to new progress and developments.

The Libyan official informed Saied of the recent developments in Libya, focusing on his initiative to find a comprehensive settlement to the Libyan crisis and advance the process of drafting a new constitution.

"Al-Mishri also expressed the hope that Tunisia will continue to play a positive role in resolving the Libyan issue and contribute to the establishment of security and stability in all regions of Libya," read the statement. Enditem
