"LEATHERTECH Bangladesh 2019" begins in Dhaka

DHAKA, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- A three-day international trade show "Leathertech Bangladesh-2019" kicked off in capital Dhaka aiming at bringing global technology to the doorsteps of the local industry to help it grow and modernize.

Tipu Munshi, Bangladesh Commerce Minister, inaugurated the 7th Edition of "LEATHERTECH Bangladesh 2019".

"We have taken this leather sector in 2nd position among export products. Our government expects to export 5 billion dollar in 2021 from this sector. With the continuous growth and encouraged by the support given by the government the sector is working towards the ambition of USD 5 billion in exports by the year 2021. We also want private sector to come forward to achieve this goal," said the minister in his speech at the inaugural ceremony of the exhibition.

ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, a local event management company, organised the popular International Trade Show on Machinery, Components, Chemicals & Accessories for Leather, Footwear And Leathergoods Sector of Bangladesh from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.

In addition 3rd edition of Bangladesh Leather Footwear & Leather Goods International Sourcing Show-BLLISS 2019 being organized by Leather Goods and Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) is being held concurrently.

Over 300 exhibitors from nearly 20 countries and regions would showcase finished leather products, machinery for tanning and manufacturing footwear and leather goods along with components like dyes and chemicals, accessories and allied products, said Nanda Gopal K.
