WASHINGTON -- U.S. employers added 128,000 jobs in October, and the unemployment rate was slightly up at 3.6 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.

ADDIS ABABA -- A traffic accident in Ethiopia's Amhara regional state has left 17 people dead, local authorities said on Friday.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Four people were killed and several others wounded in a shooting at Halloween house party in Orinda, Northern California, Thursday night, local TV network KTVU reported early Friday.
