GENEVA, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- The national and regional risk levels of Ebola situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) remain very high, while global risk levels remain low, the WHO said on Friday.

The assessment is the same as the one carried out in early October.

Despite the encouraging stabilization in the number of new Ebola cases in the DRC for the past week, the situation remains highly contingent upon the difficulties in accessing to and the security within affected communities, the WHO said.

In the North Kivu and Ituri provinces, two major epicenters of the outbreak, relatively lower case incidence has been observed, with 19 confirmed cases reported in the past week, which is essentially equivalent to the 20 confirmed cases the week before, the WHO said.

According to the latest WHO statistics, during the past 21 days, 59 confirmed cases were reported from eight active health zones in North Kivu and Ituri provinces.

The WTO advises, however, against any restriction of travel to and trade with the DRC. Enditem
