ACCRA, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Ghana has announced a 12-member squad to participate in the 2019 Rugby Africa men's sevens tournament in South Africa.

Announcing the final list, Herbert Mensah, president and board chairman of Ghana Rugby, said the results of the strength and conditioning (S&C) tests done by UK-based coach, Stuart Aimer, had a big part to play in the final selection.

"The S&C test results, as well as the general attitude and behavior of the selected 12 men, has made them the obvious choice to go to South Africa and to fly Ghana's flag high," Mensah said.

The Ghana Eagles will camp in Pretoria, with the support of the Blue Bulls management, according to a release by the Ghana Rugby.

On Nov. 6, the team will move to Johannesburg for final preparations and for the big battle when they will face Zambia on Nov. 8 at the Bosman Stadium in Brakpan.

Africa's top 14 men's sevens teams will take part in the tournament, which also serves as a qualifier for the 2020 Olympic Games to be staged in Tokyo, capital of Japan.

Participating teams in the Nov. 8 to 9 competition include Ghana, Botswana, Cote d'Ivoire, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Enditem
