Danish railtracks to witness German battery trains soon

COPENHAGEN, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Fifty-five new German trains running on batteries may soon be traveling the Danish-German border, local Danish newspaper JydskeVestkysten reported on Sunday.

The new battery trains are part of a major green investment of Germany, according to the local newspaper, Germans plan to try them on the southern Danish rail network in Jutland.

The German idea is that battery-powered trains can make a serious contribution to the green transition by speeding up electrification of the rail network by their presence on sections of the Danish rail infrastructure, which has yet to be electrified.

Denmark's Minister for Transport Benny Engelbrecht was openly supportive of the idea and pointed out that the German electric trains may require charging stations to be built in southern Denmark. Enditem
