DAMASCUS, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian army on Sunday consolidated its positions in the countryside of Hasakah province in northeastern Syria and met with other Syrian military units advancing from Raqqa province in northern Syria, according to the state news agency SANA.

The Syrian army's deployment comes in light of "its duties to counter the Turkish aggression," as new Syrian units were deployed on Sunday in the countryside of Tal Tamr area in the northeastern countryside of Hasakah and met with advancing forces from Raqqa province, said the report.

The reinforcement was also deployed on the Dirbasiyeh-Ras al-Ayn road in northeastern Hasakah and advanced toward the Turkish border, according to the report.

The deployment of the Syrian army in Kurdish-held areas is part of a deal mediated by Russia late last month.

The Syrian army's deployment in Hasakah and reaching the military units in Raqqa are considered to be the reopening of the land supply route to the Syrian army in Hasakah since 2012.

It's worth noting that the Syrian army in Hasakah used to get supplies by aircraft. But now after the deployment in Kurdish areas, the army regained the land route of supplies. Enditem
