ACCRA, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Ghana FA president Kurt Okraku on Monday encouraged the players of the Black Meteors, the country's national U-23 team, to seal qualification to the 2020 Olympic Games.

Speaking to players and the technical team ahead of their trip to Egypt for the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Okraku said, "It's been sixteen years since we qualified to the Olympics and you have about three or four games away from a ticket to the Olympics."

"We believe you can do it so believe in yourselves and do it for Ghana," he said, who was accompanied by some members of the new executive council.

Okraku also advised the players to listen attentively to their technical team throughout their campaign in Egypt.

Randy Abbey, a member of the FA executive council, also urged the team to seize the golden opportunity to make history.

The technical team, management, and players left here on Monday for the tournament, which begins on November 8.

Ghana has been drawn in Group A and will open its campaign against Cameroon on the opening day before facing hosts Egypt and Mali.

The U-23 tournament will determine three African berths for the 2020 Olympics men's football tournament.

Ghana have not qualified for the Olympics Games since 2004. Enditem
