BISHKEK, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- A member of the Hizb ut-Tahrir religious extremist organization has been detained in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the State Committee for National Security of the country said on Wednesday.
In the course of operational-search measures to combat the illegal activities of religious extremist and terrorist organizations, security officers of Kyrgyzstan detained in Bishkek a citizen of one of the neighboring republics, who coordinated the activities of underground cells of Hizb ut-Tahrir religious extremist organization, the report said.
The detainee was on an interstate wanted list for involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir in one of the neighboring republics.
Using a fake passport, he conducted active extremist activities on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
About 20 organizations are recognized by court as terrorists groups in Kyrgyzstan. Enditem
