BEIJING -- At the invitation of Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro, Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Greece and attend the 11th BRICS summit in Brasilia, the capital city of Brazil, from Nov. 10 to 15 , Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced here Thursday.

DAMASCUS -- About 30 Kurdish fighters and Turkey-backed rebels were killed on Wednesday during battles that have flared in the northern Syrian province of Raqqa, a war monitor reported.

Battles intensified on the outskirts of the town of Ayn Issa in the northern countryside of Raqqa over the past 24 hours, with airstrikes and artillery shelling by Turkish forces and Turkey-backed rebels against the Kurdish militia of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. MADRID -- Emergency services confirmed on Wednesday they have recovered the bodies of five people while rescuing another four people alive after a boat carrying immigrants capsized off the coast of the island of Lanzarote in the Spanish Canary Islands.

According to authorities, the accident happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning when the boat hit rocks close to the town of Teguise on the east coast of the popular holiday island. (Spain-Immigrants)

MOSCOW -- Russian President Vladimir Putin said here on Wednesday that Russia will develop its military while simultaneously promoting disarmament.
