AZ players Stengs and Boadu debut in Dutch national soccer squad

THE HAGUE, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Forwards Calvin Stengs and Myron Boadu received their first call-up for the Netherlands on Friday for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Northern Ireland and Estonia.

The 20-year-old winger Stengs and the 18-year-old central forward Boadu are having a strong season so far with AZ Alkmaar, second placed in the Eredivisie at the moment. Stengs produced three goals and six assists in the Dutch league, while Boadu has seven goals and three assists behind his name. Both are products of the youth academy of AZ.

Compared to the preliminary squad, Koeman left out Marco Bizot (AZ), Hans Hateboer (Atalanta Bergamo), Tonny Vilhena (Krasnodar) and injured PSV striker Donyell Malen. Memphis Depay and Matthijs de Ligt, who suffered from injuries in recent days, are part of the squad.

The Netherlands will play Northern Ireland on November 16 at Windsor Park in Belfast. A draw against Northern Ireland means qualification for Euro 2020. On November 19, the Dutch play Estonia in Amsterdam.
