BELGRADE, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Indian companies are interested in investing in Serbia, said visiting Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar here on Friday while meeting with his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic.

"We see that you are the leaders of economic growth in the region. Indian business is interested in investing in this part of the world," he said.

According to a press release of the Serbian government, Dacic and Jaishankar talked mainly about bilateral relations and the development of economic relations and trade.

Jaishankar said it was important to improve cooperation in the field of pharmacy, information technology and defense.

Jaishankar announced that India plans to participate at the annual International Agricultural fair in Novi Sad next year, and that Serbia is among invited countries at the upcoming 5th India-Europe 29 Business Forum.

According to him, the abolition of visa regime between the two countries already resulted in increased number of tourists, while Serbia has become an attractive location for Indian filmmakers.

Dacic believes that there is great potential to further develop economic relations and trade.

He expected the annual trade in goods between the two countries to increase from 180 million U.S. dollars to 1 billion dollars in the next five years.

Relations between Serbia and India have been traditionally good since the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement, said Dacic, who called for closer relations in all segments.

Dacic reiterated that the two countries support each other's territorial integrity, and the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. Enditem
